I saw your new feature on the ACES site and thought it was a good time to send an update and picture on Vanna.
Since her arrival on Long Island on November 10, 2011, Vanna has been an integral part of our family. Whether she is birding and squirreling in the yard, going for her long walks, playing ‘find it’, or cuddling on the couch, Vanna keeps us smiling and very grateful that she is here to share our home with us. Simply put, she is a happy, friendly, gentle, and very special friend and companion.
This past May we all had quite a scare as she became suddenly extremely lethargic and was diagnosed with Thrombocytopenia, an autoimmune disorder that results in a greatly reduced platelet count. Thankfully, after several days in the hospital and follow-up medication that she will continue to take she has rebounded quite well and continues to enjoy life to the fullest. Much like Suzy (2010), Vanna is one of the lucky ones who responded well to her treatment and we hope that continues for the foreseeable future.
She wishes one and all a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the holiday season.
Joanne, Rich and Vanna
We're sorry to hear about Vanna's scare in May. It's wonderful that she responded to treatment and rebounded like Suzy. We're so happy for Vanna, and thankful she is living the dream setter life with such a loving forever family.
