Rescue setters

We adopted a 6 year old Setter from a foster care shelter 4 months ago. Yes, there is baggage. Unbeknownst to the 2 ladies that fostered him, we have come to believe there had been abuse by a male. We started to discover fear aggression at odd times--like when my husband removed his belt, or cracked his knuckles. IF he allows himself to fall asleep next to you (which happens more often now), he wakes up fearful and growling. Our hearts hurt for this poor little boy who needed--needs to learn to trust his family. We are making strides at times, and baby steps at others, but we press ahead. Most of the time he is a well mannered family member who runs so joyously in the backyard, or greets us with tail wagging at the front door. Django is healing, and we love him very much. No regrets.

Beautiful Dogs

Luke was a beautiful boy, he died 20 years ago. He was my 1st dog and soon became my BEST friend.
We lived on a horse farm in Middleburg VA, perfect place for his activity level. 13 years of love he just died of old age. Still to this day I tear up when I think of him. I have Boston Terriers now, and live in VA Beach. Too hot for Setters, someday I would like to Rescue another English Setter...

Re: Welcome to ACES

My beautiful 12 yr old English Setter (Freckles)
just went over the rainbow where all wonderful dogs go. She was a beautiful orange & white setter
that my husband rescued. She was the sweetest most loving companion and furry friend anyone could ever want. She just loved everyone who came into our home. She could make you laugh out loud with some of her crazy antics and also melt your heart with that setter look. She's missed. On a happier note I'm in the process of adopting another setter.

Muffin

It's very hard to write this now as I'm grieving for Muffin, aka Patty, who went over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. She became ill w/what we think was a brain tumor on Wed and by Sat we had to make the decision that all pet-owners dread. We had her for 9 yrs and got her from ACES when she was 1 y.o. She was the most loveable, sweet, and affectionate dog who exceeded our expectations as a companion. Thank you ACES for doing this work and making our home a better place for having known her.

gift of loving an English Setter

We adopted an Orange/white English Setter at 2 yrs old (guess). We where blessed to have her in our family for 10 years. She was a beautiful picture perfect beauty w large brown eye's who stole our heart. She was our first dog who joined our three cats and two other dogs we added to our family. Daisy was the kindest, good hearted companion who we miss terribley. Anyone who is hesitant in adopting one of these fantastic dogs, has not quite decided or just does not know anything about this breed should know how wonderful they can be. They are excellent with children, are content to be loved, and make excellent pets. I guarantee you will lose your heart and gain the love that will fill your heart forever. Adopt if you want a forever companion that will complete your family. They are wonderful!!!!

TRACE

Trace is completing his fourth week in our home in NH, and it seems as if he settled in immediately. My husband, son, and I all love him so much. He is a great dog, and loves going for rides and walks. He and Chelsea, our in-house English Setter, are old friends. We are all grateful for such a wonderful pet. I have some pictures- just don't know where to post them. Kathy

He is a really funny dog to have aroung the house and to have when you're in need of a friend. Well you know what they say a dog is always a man's best friend. Huumm.. I wonder if that counts for a Girl? YEP it does, we also have another dog named Mia she's a long haired dachshund and spotty loves her! its so cute! well you guys have done a great and amazing job! THanks for SPOTTY!

Clover

I LOVE the new web site! ACES and it's wonderful "Rescue Railroad" brought Clover and I together 7 years ago. It was love at first sight on PetFinder.com and happily ever after she arrived here at her forever home. Clover is now 9 and still loving life, people, and her doggie bed. Many thanks to all the volunteers who made our life together possible and who continue to connect wonderful setters with greatful humans.

Compliments, Trace

I love looking at your site, I lost my setter Casper, last fall and miss him so much. I look at your pages all the time, and have sent you guys an E-mail about Trace. He looks to be just what I'm looking for! (I would love to take them all if I could!)
