Isabella is a beautiful, smart, and shy gal. She’s tri-color, 4 years old, and a healthy 48 pounds. Isabella, or Izzy as her foster family calls her, had been found running loose on a farm in Illinois. Once at her foster home, Izzy adapted quickly to the cozy life of an indoor dog.

Izzy is sweet and calm. She does not seem to like a lot of action or noise and if things get too crazy for her, she will go take a rest in her crate. It also takes her a while to feel comfortable with strangers. She will sometimes let out a little ‘yelp’ to say, ‘give me a moment here to get comfortable and then I’ll be okay’. Once she knows you, she will quietly sneak up to your side and nudge your arm to get some loving. She likes to lie on the couch and watch TV with her family. Izzy is super-smart. She was the first dog at her foster home to figure out a toy called a bob-a-lot.

Izzy does well with most other dogs; she doesn’t particularly like over-active puppies that get in her face. Izzy would also be happy as the only animal in the home. We do not know how she would be around cats.

Izzy had heartworm disease when she came to ACES and she’s done well through her treatment. She likes to play, but because of her treatment, she is on leash restriction until March 9. Izzy seems perplexed as to why she can’t play like the other dogs, so we think she’s looking forward to being able to run with them. Izzy will live a full life, but after her bout with heartworms, she should avoid throat irritation by wearing a harness instead of a collar when going for walks and she should avoid airborne irritants like cigarette smoke.

Because she is timid, we don’t think Isabella would be happy in a home with young children. She also should have a physical fence instead of an invisible fence.

Isabella probably won’t become your running partner, but she’d enjoy long walks and she can play and have fun. Izzy is looking forward to a great life as part of your family.

Izzy wants to thank Holly Christensen & Steve Krogulecki for their support and best wishes in her search for a loving forever home!

Bob & Margaret Radford hope that sweet Isabella will soon be curled up on the couch watching TV with her loving new family.
