This 4 year-old, 42-pound orange boy seemed down on his luck after being picked up as a stray and ending up in a shelter.  To make things worse, he tested positive for heartworm disease.  But his luck took a turn for the better when ACES was able to get him into a loving foster home and treat him for heartworm.  Now Kentucky Lucky is one lucky boy.  He's finished his treatment and is happy, healthy, and ready for a forever home.

Lucky enjoys his outside time chasing birds, squirrels, and bunnies, and but he really likes being an indoor dog and part of a loving family. He shares his foster home with three dogs and big black cat. Lucky plays well his dog siblings and finds the cat very interesting.  So far, Lucky is just very curious and seems to want to play with the cat.  Lucky socializes well with people and loves the attention that they show him.

Lucky is a smart boy that has mastered housetraining and the invisible fence.  He knows what treats are and has learned the concepts of sit, stay, come, and go potty. Unfortunately, he has also learned the art of counter-surfing from his foster brother. Although they both respond quickly to re-direction, their noses lead them to food they cannot see.  Lucky’s family will need to reinforce his good manners and be careful to not leave food out that might tempt him.

Lucky is not a chewer or into toys. Mostly, he enjoys being with his people. He loves to have his chest and ears rubbed, and he will snuggle in bed or on your lap when watching TV.  He’ll gently let you know when he wants some attention.  He loves to put his head in his person’s lap and roll over to get belly rub.  Then he just looks up at you with his soft loving eyes and you can’t help but give him a little belly rub.  Lucky travels well; he just curls up and goes to sleep.

Lucky is an energetic, mild-mannered boy. As with any dog, he will need love, attention, boundaries, and reward-based training.  Lucky has learned so much in foster care.  He just needs that final stroke of luck to find a loving home with a family who will rub his belly, scratch his ears, and give him the love and attention he deserves.
