Howie is a beautiful 7-year-old tri-colored English Setter. He's such a sweetheart and would very much like to be a 59-pound lapdog. He's got a big setter heart, a handsome block head and big feet, and he strikes quite the pose. He came from a shelter and has spent his time in foster care making up for missed time.
Howie had to learn indoor manners when he came to ACES, and he has done that wonderfully. His size makes it easy for him to reach things on the counter, and sometimes he gives into temptation and tries get to the cat's food (but, who can blame him for trying, kitty chow is tasty!). Howie loves his treats and responds well to positive reinforcement so his foster mom always keeps some handy. He's been a quick learner.
Howie is very even tempered. He likes all people and is very accepting of other dogs. He loves to be petted and to snuggle up next to you on the couch or in bed. If there is not room, he is pretty adept at squeezing himself in. He likes the toy basket, especially the toys with stuffing or tennis balls. He gets excited when new toys are brought out and seems to like the variety, if his foster sister Hanna will let him have them.
He gets along great with his foster siblings. They spend time outside running and chasing whatever is in the yard or air and in all weather. He would do best with a good sized yard and a person who will take him on walks. Otherwise, his critter-curiosity may get the best of him, so Howie is looking for a home without cats or other small critters. When the dogs are ready to come in, Howie tries to get the prime window seat so that he can still watch the goings-on outside.
Howie is a big loving boy who will bring much love and comfort into a home that loves dogs and, hopefully, is around much of the time. Howie is happy here with his foster brother and sisters, but this big love-bug would love to find and settle into his forever home.
Lee Miller hopes that Howie will be snuggling up with his new forever family very soon!
Mary Hedlund-Blomberg wants Howie, the big love-bug, to be sharing his love with a forever family soon!
