Snow is a 3-4 year old neutered English Setter mix. Snow's "Once upon a time story" starts out very sadly. He was brought in by animal control to a South Carolina shelter, where they took him and 3 other dogs from a yard with no food, water or shelter. He came to the shelter dehydrated and a little underweight. But the people at the shelter were nice, and they fed Snow and cared for him. They found a rescue to take him in.
So Snow's story gets better at this point because he gets all his shots, neutered, and gets treated for heartworms. He gets all healthy and ready for his foster home. He is happy in his foster home where he gets the love and attention he deserves and craves. He gets to live in a house, gets food and water regularly, and gets lots of treats! His favorite treat is hot dogs, but he also likes Italian Ice.
But there is some other sadness in Snow's story that we are still working with. Snow LOVES women, but it takes him awhile to warm up to men. Snow's foster dad began feeding him at night and giving him hot dog treats so Snow would learn to trust men. Soon after that, Snow began to like his foster dad! We feel Snow had a fear of men because at some point he was hurt by a man. He used to cringe when a leash was put on him, and Snow does not like a strange man touching his head or mouth.
Snow is very dog friendly and ok with cats. He weighs about 38 pounds and is his legs are shorter than an English Setter's. So he is a smaller guy who would do well in a quiet home where he will be pampered and loved. He will stay in a chain link fence, and he does not try to jump or dig out. He also does not chase "critters" in the yard and is not birdy at all. He wants to be with you all the time and will look at you adoringly as if there is no one in the world but you. Snow likes to go for walks, although he will try to chase anything with wheels like cars, buses, and kids on bikes. He will also bark at the buses.
Snow's ideal home would be with a woman, or a couple where the man is willing to work with Snow to gain his trust. Because of his background, we feel he should not be in a home with children. Snow loves to be with his people all the time like a shadow. He is a beautiful little companion who wants to share your life and look lovingly at you or rest by your side. Snow rides well in the car so he can go for rides or go for long walks. He is housebroken and crate trained and has good house manners. Snow would make a nice companion for the right person or family.
