Nevaeh is a medium sized adorable orange and white female. About 40 pounds, she is about 3 or 4 years old – an energetic girl but without any puppy habits inside the house! She has never had an accident inside and has slept great in kitchen/laundry room on a dog bed since her first night in her foster home.
Nevaeh gets along great with all of the kids in the house as well as the resident English Setter girl. She does great in the house once she has gotten some exercise. She is left for 6 hours a day or so with her foster sister in a laundry room with their dog beds and they do great. She is very excited for her foster family to get home and is happy to join us on any adventures we have for the evening. She as attended many sporting events and met a lot of people of all ages there and is a friend to all! She eats well, shares her snacks with her foster sister. Nevaeh loves to snuggle and thinks she makes a great lap dog.
She loves to run in the back yard and she is very interested in any sort of yard critters she may see....especially birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. She has not made any attempt to get over our fence to go after the critters. But, if left to her own devices, Nevaeh will dig a hole to see where that chipmunk went! With a watchful eye and some guidance, she has is quickly redirected. But, for a while we think some guidance in the yard will be important. We don't have cats, but she does find those squirrels very entertaining.
Nevaeh is still learning leash walking manners. We don't think she was ever walked on a leash, but appears to be a fast learner. Slow leisurely walks are not on her list just yet and she is doing better with a harness. She will learn in time. She joined her foster father on a 12 mile run and did really well and met a lot of other dogs running on leash there and was happy to just keep running along. We think she could run a marathon! We think Navaeh would love a big wide open dog park to really open it up and get some exercise.
She rides in the car really well in a crate and we think would learn to settle down in the back seat once she gets used to riding. Right now, she likes to see what is going on outside the windows.
This young lady is hoping for her own forever family for the Holidays and would be happy to have any mix of kids, dogs, and adults.
Doug and Karen Moreno hope that Nevaeh will be celebrating the holidays with a loving forever family!
NEVAEH'S (NOW PIPER'S) SUCCESS STORY
Neveah has been in her forever home for almost 3 months now, and she has fit right in. We renamed her Piper right away as heaven spelled backwards just seemed wrong. She learned the electric fence in two days and always tells us when she has to go outside. She and Tucker (our first Aces rescue) are not fast friends yet,as she is pushy and he is content to be pushed around. But they get along fine.
Piper is smart and knows how to fetch! She is so much fun to play with. She fillets toys with squeakers in a five minutes flat, so we have switched to a purple (go Ravens) Kong Chubba that she loves. She now has a huge acre to run around on and while she loves outside, she loves the people more. She follows whoever is home around and stays right with you. She is loved by everyone in the house and gets so excited when you come home, even if you just took out the trash. She is a great addition to our home.
