Missy is an orange belton girl who turned 1 year old in August 2012; she is still very much a puppy in many ways.  She is an exuberant youngster, full of playfulness and love.  She enjoys all kinds of toys, especially soft and squeaky ones, and playtime is still very important. She has her own toy box at her foster home, and has been working diligently on learning which things are her toys, and which things are not. Her foster parents and their children have learned to keep their shoes and laundry high and safe, because sometimes the temptation to gnaw something forbidden is just too much to bear, but she is really doing so well! They have also been working hard with her on her housebreaking and she is doing great! She does best when she is given time outside every few hours, and always sleeps quietly and without incident overnight. Accidents are few and far between now, and she has started to bark to get her family’s attention when she needs or wants to go outside.

Missy gets along wonderfully with her canine foster brothers, although it seems to puzzle her that the 12 year old lab just can’t be coaxed to play. Having two older foster canine brothers has helped her learn the rules of the house quickly. She is very social with people and other dogs, and has even learned to be friends with the two resident kitties. Every now and then she slips and forgets that the kitties don’t want to play with her but once reminded she moves on to a new activity.   She sometimes thinks she’s a lap dog, and will try to crawl into someone’s lap for a nap and cuddle.

Missy is always ready for a new adventure. She is easily distracted by anything that floats or flies by and can be seen trotting happily willy-nilly around the backyard following butterflies. She loves to watch the goldfish and frogs in her little garden pond.  Missy also enjoys alerting the household to dangerous squirrels that dare to play in the nearby trees.  She enjoys going for rides in the car now, and loves to go play at the local dog park. She loves to go for walks too, and is working on her leash and greeting manners. She is so full of joy and love she wants to express it by jumping up, but she has been working very hard to resist the urge and is doing much better at keeping all four paws on the ground.

She speaks the setter “ROOROOOO” lingo very well, and greets anyone who has left the room upon their return. Overall though, she is a quiet little girl, very well behaved and a joy to cuddle with in the evenings. She is like a small child, full of energy most of the day but still needing a few naps, and crashes hard at the end of the day. She loves to fall asleep next to them on the couch for a nap, but when bedtime comes she loves her crate.  She will often put herself to bed in her crate if her foster parents stay up too late.

Missy is a perfect, freckled, beautiful young lady!  She is such a cutie and has so much character that she just makes her foster family laugh.  But as much as they are full-on in love with this little cutie, they know her forever home is out there waiting for a girl just like her.

Mary Loots hopes that Missy will be happily following butterflies in her forever home backyard very soon!

Doug & Karen Moreno hope that Missy finds a forever home full of love and soft and squeaky toys!
