Raleigh is convinced that he's a lapdog. Even though he weighs somewhere around 50 pounds. If his people are sitting on the floor he's trying to get in their laps. If Mom and the kids are on the low bed reading he just climbs on up and plops down in the midst of them. He was supposed to just be a foster dog, but it didn't take him long to steal our hearts and make himself a permanent part of the family.
He's what I call a "velcro dog." He's stuck to his people wherever they go. He loves snuggles first best, playing second best. Well, eating might actually be somewhere between first and second. We were a little worried about how Dottie would take to him, but as you can see from the picture - they get along just fine. They're best buddies. I don't know who'd be more heartbroken if he had to leave - Dottie or us.
We've tried all manner of toys for him and just today found something he likes to chew on other than the rollers of my desk chair - softballs. My daughter and I were playing softball today (playing softball = I try to throw it and she tries to hit it) and he grabbed one and started chewing on it. He has completely ignored bones, stuffed toys, tennis balls.... but he likes softballs! We've failed as a foster family and Raleigh has found his forever home!
