Toby is an incredibly sweet and loving 5 year old black and white boy.  This mellow boy weighs in at a lanky 42 pounds.  Toby's family had to give him up when they moved and couldn't take him along.  I cannot imagine how confused and heartbroken Toby was when he ended up at the shelter.  Once he came to ACES, this wonderful boy handled the transition to his foster home with incredible grace, including a ride on a small plane to get him here!  Toby has been a total champ with all the changes in his life. His first day here he just wanted to be held.  He got in my lap and I held him for hours.  After that, he started to explore his surroundings.

Toby learned the ropes around here in short order.  He got along famously with his three foster siblings from the start.  My older female adores him and they play endlessly. Toby is house-trained and crate-trained.  He goes in his crate on command and stays there while I'm at work.  Toby rides well in the car, is good on leash and has made no attempt to climb my 5 foot chain link fence. He is also my first foster that is not a counter surfer!  He checks out small objects that he finds in low places, but he is not a chewer and stops what he is doing immediately when corrected. He is not interested in kitchen trash, but he is fascinated by the waste basket in the master bath.  When I'm home, he has full house privileges and he has proven trustworthy from the start.  He's my first foster that I've let roam unsupervised.

Toby sleeps on the floor right next to me at night and does not move until I get up in the morning.  He could easily become a bed buddy, but his foster sister does not share that space with anyone.  He was able to squeeze in one night and slept very comfortably until morning!  Toby is getting more talkative with each passing day.  When he gets a treat, he gives me a big "Roo!"  He greets me every morning with that happy sound. Toby is a total people dog and always prefers to be in the room very near me.  I really think Toby considers himself a lap dog.  He is a total love bug.
