Katy is a gorgeous Orange Belton who is the perfect combination of sweet and spice. She is a smallish girl, weighing 38 pounds and estimated to be 5 or 6 years old. Katy spends much of her day "at work" outside. She is a fairly high energy dog - constantly in motion, patrolling the perimeter of the yard. She prances with her nose in the air, scanning for birds - quickly assuming a solid point once she locks in on one. Katy tends to slow down as the day progresses, and by early evening, she's ready to snuggle on the couch and watch television with her foster parents. She settles in her crate easily (although she clearly prefers to sleep on the bed).

Around people, Katy is quite a charmer, eagerly seeking attention from anybody she meets. She seems accustomed to human companionship, being well-mannered and well-trained. Katy knows voice commands – she will sit, lie down and come on command. Katy is housebroken and doesn't seem to be a chewer, although she loves her rawhide bones. Katy may try to sneak in occasional counter surf - but responds quickly when told to get down.

Katy loves, loves, loves to play. She plays with quite of bit of enthusiasm, so she may be better suited to dogs that have a more easy-going style. She was exposed to a cat briefly and had a typical bird dog "hunting" reaction. She would probably be best in a home without cats since most cats don't like to be on the receiving end of the hunt game.

We are confident that Katy's adopting family will find her a real sweetheart and loyal companion – the perfect combination of sweet and spice.

Steve, Teri and Miss Sophia Sauer hope that "sweet and spicy" Katy finds her forever home very soon!
