Charlie only wants one thing from his people…love.  Luckily, that’s easy to do.  Everyone who meets Charlie just loves him.  This 8 year old blue boy is the perfect gentleman.  He’s well-mannered, housetrained and gets along with other dogs.  He carries his 44 pounds on a small frame so he doesn’t even take up much space!

Charlie is a great communicator.  He will dance at the back door when he wants to go out and he barks to come back in.  He understands what you want, too.  He responds well to our requests to sit, to wait, and to go to his bed.  He will even come when called from the backyard as long as whatever he’s sniffing doesn’t tempt him to stay.  Charlie also lets the other dogs in our house know how he is feeling.  He’s happy to hang out with them or to go out on alert with the crew in the backyard.  When our younger dog gets too much in his face, Charlie will give a little growl to tell him to back up.  No worries from the other dogs, they know he is just telling them how he feels.

Charlie can be timid in new situations.  He took a couple of weeks to feel at ease in our home.  He trembled when we took him to the vet’s office, even while approaching the staff for some loving.  He comes around quickly as soon as he realizes that no one is going to hurt him.  Funny, how he loved the vet even though she was the one giving the vaccinations!  Charlie is afraid of thunderstorms, but he endures them as well as he can, curling into a tight ball until they are over.

Charlie is one of the easiest fosters we’ve had.  He’s not high energy in the backyard.  He’s more of an exploring type of guy, cruising around the fence line and looking for critters in the bushes and tall grass.  He’s low maintenance inside the house too.  He simply picks out a dog bed and lies down.  If it gets too hot, you can find him in the middle of the floor with his belly exposed to the ceiling fan.  At night, Charlie sleeps on a dog bed at the side of our bed.

If you’ve got extra love to spare, Charlie is the setter for you!
