China is one sweet, smart setter doll. She has fit right in with my three dogs, such an easy girl to foster. China was a little reserved at first, but she was just sitting back, taking everything in. Once she figured things out - game on! At first she would not chill with us in the great room, instead she chose to watch from the hall.  Little by little, she would inch closer and closer to the action. By Day 3, she was on the sofa and fully integrated into the family.
 
China is 3-4 years old and is happy, energetic and playful.  She needs lots of exercise and would benefit greatly from the company of a like-minded canine companion. She is full of curiosity, the kind that can get her into minor trouble. She counter surfs and checks everything out by putting it in her mouth. She's not really a chewer, but small objects need to be moved to higher ground. China is smart and figures things out quickly. Crate training was a breeze and we are in the process of housetraining. Just to show how smart she is, she watched my crew to see what worked for them and immediately followed suit. If one of my dogs bangs on the back door to be let in, China bangs on the back door to be let in. She points the goodie jar, same as my crew.  China rides well in the car, looking out the window for a few minutes and then laying down and going to sleep. She walks well on a leash and has made no attempt to climb my 5 ft chain link fence.
 
China weighed 39 pounds at her last vet visit and has been gaining a few needed pounds. She should max out at about 45 pounds. China has been the hit of the neighborhood, everyone comes by the yard to see her. She goes belly up immediately, looking to be loved. If she were toothpaste, she would ooze through the links of the fence. She loves to be loved.

UPDATE (12/10)

Dear All,

Just to give a short update on China and how she is settling in. We are still learning a few things...like not to try to eat daddy's food while he is eating and it is not nice to chase the cat. But China is doing very well in many respects. She took right to the dog door and loves being able to come and go as she pleases and run around in the yard. She is great about going in her box when she gets tired or at night and has been eating well. This evening we took her to a living nativity at the church I work at and she was excellent...not pulling at her leash or barking...just sitting there calmly and enjoying the petting and attention from others. She was quite the little lady.

She does bark at the neighbors and squirrels, and whatever else moves and we have had to block the carport due to her desire to climb on top of Richard's 1994 300ZX which comes under the list of things not to do.

Check out the attached pictures (that is Nile in the background of the one on the bed). I will send more updates in the future. Again, thank you all for helping China get here before Christmas. She is a love and very sweet.
