All Huckleberry wants is someone to play with him! This 2 year old tricolor boy is just bursting with joy. He was found as a stray and has quickly settled into his ACES foster home. He’s housetrained, gets along with other dogs, and sleeps all night in a crate. Now, if he could just get someone to play with him!
Huckleberry is so happy. Most of the time, he has his mouth open in a doggie smile, often with his tongue hanging out. He loves his people. He’ll follow you around and lay at your feet. If you get on the floor with him or invite him on the couch, he’ll rub up against you to return your affection. He’s fine if you need to go to work during the day. He’ll go in his crate, lay right down, and wait for you to return. Huckleberry is happy around our other dogs too. He follows them around as much as his people and, in the first week here, really depended on them to show him the ropes. He would love for someone to chase and wrestle with him, but our dogs are either too busy birding or too dignified for such silliness.
Huckleberry is extremely fast. He’ll race around the yard at high speeds over and over again. He’ll come to a whistle and then run off again to see if anything has changed in the yard. Inside, to engage you in play, Huckleberry will spin, dance, and play bow. All the while, he has the goofiest expression, with the tongue hanging out of his mouth. Obviously, Huckleberry still has some puppy in him. He uses his bones and stuffies to satisfy his urge to chew, but he has been know to grab a sock or other “non-toy” item and run around the house with it.
Huckleberry has a great start on life and is enjoying it to the fullest. He’s looking for a family to share his enthusiasm!
Steve, Teri and Miss Sydney Sauer hope that Huckleberry will be smiling at his forever family very soon!
HUCKLEBERRY'S (BODIE'S) SUCCESS STORY
Huckleberry, now Bodie (named after Bodie Island on the Outer Banks of NC), was adopted in September 2010 and is living the good life with his forever family! His mom recently sent in some gorgeous photos of Bodie -- check them out in his photo gallery. He loves to chase and play fight with his brother! She wrote to tell ACES that Bodie is a sweetie pie, saying "We think he is pretty happy with us as he gets to run to his heart's content on our 2 acres. He is the consummate hunter and people greeter!"
