Meet Maggie, a tri-color super cuddler who loves to play. Maggie is 18 months old and weighs 35 lbs. She was turned into a shelter when Maggie's owners moved and couldn't take her along.

When Maggie first came to her foster home, she was nervous because of all the changes, but she just seemed happy to be around people! Her previous owners kept her in a crate for most of the day so she loves to explore the house every chance she gets. That cute little nose of hers can find its way into many things. So Maggie does best when she's supervisored or gated in a safe area until her house manners improve.

At night, Maggie would prefer to sleep in our bed, (She is SUCH A CUDDLER!!) but she also does great sleeping in her crate. Maggie is house-trained, she loves other dogs, and she's gentle with cats once she knows them. When Maggie first meets a cat, she gets very excited and may scare them off. We're still working on jumping up and counter-surfing, but Maggie is very responsive to positive reinforcement.

Maggie's favorite things are chew toys, grooming herself, playing outside and cuddling with her friends and foster parents. She's so sweet and gentle inside with setter energy to spare when she's outside!

Pam Miller is hoping that Maggie will find a forever family soon!

UPDATE (5/10)

I just wanted to give you a quick update on Maggie, adopted into our family on January 16th of this year. She has figured out that this is her forever home, and has settled into a comfortable routine with her big sister Lucy. She has absolutely blossomed over the past few months and is a pure delight.

We probably should have renamed her “Shadow” as she follows me everywhere, and I do mean everywhere, as you can see from the photo below.

Maggie has gained a few pounds (no more ribs showing), obeys all of the house rules, has learned not to counter surf or jump up on our bed. She sits like a lady while waiting for meals to be served, and will jump up about six feet for a piece of apple, one of her favorite treats!

She learned the boundaries of our invisible fence within 3-4 days and enjoys being able to run freely in an area about the size of one acre. Her two favorite outdoor activities are chasing and catching butterflies (she’s caught two) and birding. Under Lucy’s tutelage, Maggie has discovered “stealth stalking” the birds; with her incredible speed, Maggie has almost caught a few!

Her curiosity is endless, and she eagerly explores every new sight or sound she encounters. This natural instinct has helped calm Lucy down and made her less frightful of noises and strangers, an unexpected and wonderful development.

Thanks again for sending this lovely lady our way!

Lucy and Maggie have been inseparable this morning! This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship, just as we’d hoped. Both of them are lying at my feet in my office, exhausted from their “let’s-get-to-know-each-other” romping.

Maggie is learning our house rules VERY quickly, and has already learned not to jump up on me or Bruce. She has eagerly explored our house, seems very comfortable in her new surroundings, and loves to look out the back sliding door.

We’re having a blast with Maggie – she’s quickly becoming a well behaved lady, following Lucy’s excellent examples! The two of them are quickly becoming inseparable, and both of them follow me everywhere.

Maggie’s favorite game is to bring every toy from Lucy’s toy box out to the family room and deposit them at my feet; then she eagerly waits for me to throw one for her to retrieve. I pick them up and put them away; in nanoseconds every single one is back at my’s pretty funny, actually! Lucy and Maggie are having some great tug-of-war games!

We’re very happy with Maggie and look forward to a long and loving relationship!
