Hobbes is a 3-5 year old field setter that weighs about 45 pounds. He arrived in our home from a rural farm area where he was found as a stray. He quickly adjusted to our busy household with children, two other dogs and a cat. He was initially very quiet but now barks to let us know when he wants attention or while playing with the other animals. He gets along with all people and animals he meets.
Hobbes has a gentle disposition and captured our hearts immediately. He is happy to greet us each day and clearly enjoys the companionship of everyone in the family (human and four legged). He is exhausted most nights by 7PM and falls asleep near to anyone sitting still. If no one is sitting still, then he will sleep in the middle of any room the family is located.
Hobbes must be use to waking at sunrise because he often barks around 5:30 AM to announce he is ready to get out of his crate. Thankfully, I start my day early but am working with him to sleep in a bit longer. It is difficult to get upset with him because he is so excited to see you and enjoys being outside early. He doesn't chase birds, but he enjoys running around the yard with the other dogs or by himself. Hobbes would make a great running companion, but he also enjoys going for long walks. He sits well and we are working on the "come" command.
I have only good things to say about Hobbes and his gentle personality.
