Pssst. Hey you! Ah huh, you, reading this. Wanna know a secret? I have a very special talent but I only show it off when I'm really happy. What it is, you ask? Well some setters are able to Roo but I have the gift of moaning. That's right, I'm a moaner. I do my best moaning when my dad rubs me and then moans back at me. Then he calls me "Moan-ey Boy" and sings that Billy Idol song "Mony Mony." It's so cool to have a song all my own. We have quite a routine and boy do we have fun together. When dad and I have our moan-a-long, my mom says it sounds just like I'm saying "I love Dad and he loves me!"
I have other endearing qualities too. My pet sitter says I'm an awesome dog. I'm built just like a cowboy with a sweet bowlegged-ness that makes me look like I'd be perfect on horseback. How many other setters can say that?
And did you see my pictures? Ok, admit it, I'm just pretty darned handsome if I do say so myself. Isn't my orange ear striking? Some have said I look more like an apricot than an orange setter. Either way, I'm really soft and isn't that a cool spot on my tail?
I've gained a couple of pounds since coming to ACES. My vet says I'm a perfect weight at 49 lbs. I love to run and play and when I hear the word "Outside" I race to the dog door to see if I can beat my foster siblings out first. I'm getting so good at being the first one out the door, that it looks like I'm just flying through it-just like a bird-dog. Get it? Bird-dog! Just a little silly setter humor, there.
Hey, did you see the photos of me on the tread mill? I'm kind of a clown sometimes but I want everyone to know that I have a fun personality. Before I came to ACES, I really didn't know how much about things like dog beds, toys, bones, ice cubes or how cool it is to sleep in the house at night with my whole family. I'm doing really well as a member of a setter family and am happy to find a spot with the rest of the pack hanging out with the folks. And it shouldn't surprise you to know that my most favorite place is snuggled on the couch with dad or curled up with him in bed when he's hitting the snooze button. I've heard that some setters don't trust their dads right away, but I've got to tell you, I'm a real daddy's boy!
I still have a single minded focus when it comes to that darned cat. I don't hurt him but I just can't seem to get over my fascination. I do the same thing with squirrels but they're more fun because they run and I can pretend to chase them. The dumb cat just sits there and I get in trouble.
I'm a very social guy and could be happy in a home with other siblings or as an only child assuming mom or dad were home with me. I wouldn't do well home all by myself with no one to keep me company. I also need a home with a physical fence and plenty of room to run and play. Lots of squirrels would be nice too.
So now you know all my secrets, except for one more very important one. I'm really ready for a family who'll love me and cherish me furever and won't let me go. So if think you could learn to love a bow-legged, moaning, one of a kind snuggler, then I'm your cowboy!!
