Mickey is a delightful lady that came to ACES after her previous owner passed away.  She was confused and sad when we picked her up at the local shelter, but she is adjusting to foster care quite well.  She is a 5-year-old liver and white English Setter with hazel eyes.  We've had her for about 3 weeks now and she is beginning to feel comfortable in our home.  She has had some episodes of "growling" at the other dogs, mostly when they want her toy or when she is being petted and doesn't want to share our attention.  We are rewarding her for sharing and her growling is not as frequent as it was when she first arrived.

Other than needing some leash work, Mickey is a well-behaved dog.  She is healthy, spayed and housetrained.  She seldom barks, likes to roam in the yard, and especially likes to chase butterflies.  Her appetite is good; at 60 pounds, she could lose a little weight.  She is great with our two grandchildren, ages 8 and 9.  As for cats, she has chased our "Boots" outside but we are gradually introducing them to each other indoors with Mickey on a leash.  Mickey does not like to go in the crate so we haven't forced her.  She really doesn't need a crate anyway; she is fine in the house while we are gone.  She sleeps on her new doggy bed in our bedroom.  She hasn't chewed anything or jumped on the furniture.

When in the car, Mickey lies on the floor in the back with her head on the hump in the middle of the floor.  She's a good traveler.  She knows a few commands, "sit" and "come," and will give you her paw.  She is very affectionate and likes to be petted.  Won't you give Mickey the love she is seeking in your forever home?
