STELLA is one sweet Georgia peach. This beautiful girl is estimated to be 7-8 years old. She is a solid 52 pounds, which is a great weight for her. Stella is an absolutely gorgeous, highly spotted orange and white girl.
Stella probably spent most of her life in a kennel as she was clueless on how to be a dog, much less a pet. Being in ACES foster care has changed her outlook. Stella is a quick learner and is making up for lost time. She is sweet, gentle and mellow, and has learned to interact, even play, with my other setters. She quickly adapted to the rules of her foster home and gets along well with her foster siblings. In fact, Stella has learned mostly by following the lead of my other setters. She mastered housetraining in a couple of days, with the help of yummy hot dog bits (dog treats were foreign to her).
Stella is very people oriented and was clingy when she first came to my house. She seemed starved for attention. In the time that she has been here, Stella has relaxed and is not as needy. She follows me from room to room and lays quietly at my feet. It didn't take long for her to discover that the sofa and bed are far more comfortable than the floor. She also has figured out that dog treats are a good thing.
Stella does well in my 5 ft. chain link fence, she rides well in the car, and she is good on lead. She will countersurf if there is something appealing up there---she loves bacon!!! She is not a major chewer, but leather seems to interest her. She has not bothered my shoes but has worked over a leather stool and a leather book. Stella comes when called; she is always the first in the door. Stella has learned a lot since coming into foster care and has learned it quickly. Now that Stella has learned to be a pampered housepet, she just needs to find the right family to pamper her!
With love from me (Sandra Witten) and my two setters, Tiger and Annie
STELLA'S SUCCESS STORY 8/08
Just wanted to give you an update on Stella. She is doing great and making herself at home here. She is curious about just everything and is learning very fast how to be a spoiled ES! She enjoys her 3 walks a day and her naps on the sofa. She is VERY birdie. I do not think that she had been cat-tested...well, I quickly discovered that she does NOT like cats and will keep them away from HER yard! She is just adorable.
