Looking for companionship?  Searching for devotion?  RALEIGH is the dog for you!  Raleigh is one of the nicest dogs I have ever brought into my home.  Maybe it's his age, my vet estimates him to be 9-10 years old, or the fact that he was a stray and appreciates a warm place to stay.  Whatever the reason, Raleigh couldn't be a better house guest.  He gets along well with everyone, adults, children, dogs, and cats.

When Raleigh first came to ACES, it was clear that he had seen better days.  His coat was matted down to the skin and burrs were embedded in his paws.  Unfortunately, Raleigh's health was worse than his appearance.  This loveable boy was diagnosed with liver disease.  We don't know what caused Raleigh's liver disease, but we set out to find a way to make him better.  After trying only two different courses of treatment, we found one that works!  Raleigh now has normal liver function.  He is on long-term medication that reduces the toxicity in his liver.  The pill is easy to give at breakfast (he eats it with his kibble), is bought at a regular pharmacy, and costs about $88 per month.

At 37 pounds, Raleigh is more fur than muscle, and what soft, fluffy fur he has!  Raleigh is a tricolor setter with a smattering of brown spots on his nose.  Because his body is spotted with black, people on the street often think he is a long-haired Dalmatian.  Boy, are they wrong!  This boy is nothing but setter.  He has a setter's sweet disposition and a love of the outdoors.  Raleigh probably logged enough running in his younger years that he is now content to roam quietly around the backyard.  He isn't fazed by the birds or squirrels and doesn't seem to mind the ducks swimming in our pool.  Raleigh likes to go for walks and will trot happily down the sidewalk with you.

Raleigh loves to ride in the car.  When he is in the front yard, he'll stand by a car in the driveway and patiently wait for a ride.  Once inside, he curls up on the seat and looks out the window.  Because he likes to travel and is a great companion, I take Raleigh with me whenever I can.  He enjoys shuttling my kids around town and visiting the pet store.  The only thing that Raleigh loves more than a car ride is his person.  This boy takes his devotion seriously and will follow you everywhere.  His age doesn't slow him down when it comes to keeping track of you.  He will follow you up and down the stairs, inside the house and out, and once you settle down on the couch, he'll hop up alongside of you.

Raleigh is a special dog looking for someone to take care of him.  In return, he'll take special care of you.

Raleigh, I hope you find a wonderful family with a mom as devoted as mine!
