Southern gentleman, in the prime of life, seeks a long-term, committed relationship. Enjoys quiet evenings relaxing quietly at your side, head rubs and gazing lovingly into your eyes.

HUNTER APPOMATTOX is a sweet, mellow 6 year-old orange setter who came in as a stray. This wonderful boy is well-mannered and completely housetrained. I suspect he was a pet and a housedog. Hunter has the sweetest face ever. I am still trying to figure out what commands he knows and am still working to get him up to speed on his weak areas. He comes when called. He does not sit consistently, but will stand quietly by your side. He follows me from room to room. Hunter does not jump up on you and has shown no desire to climb my 5 ft. chain link fence. He gets along well with his two foster sisters, as well as any other dog he has encountered. Hunter showed intense interest in 3 cats (in crates) at the groomers, but was more focused than excited. He came away easily when called.

Hunter walks beautifully on lead and rides well in the car. He does need to be convinced that he is not allowed to drive but again, he settles down quickly. He is very calm and loves to be loved, even by strangers. Hunter currently weighs 50 lbs. but he may gain a couple more pounds as he settles in. Hunter has been a dream foster dog. He has been a trooper from the beginning. He came through his neuter surgery and a long transport with no problems at all. He walked into my house and made himself right at home. He was reluctant to be crated at night but has quickly learned the ropes.

Hunter is not particularly birdie, but he does love to run the fence line. He is a joy to watch in the yard, but I am saving the best for last! When Hunter is happy, he does the setter dance!! What more could anyone want!!
