Hi, my name is ALFIE. I am a blue belton Llewellin English Setter and weigh about 40 lbs. I try to have an air of mystery so I am not telling anyone where I came from before I ended up at the shelter. I can tell you that I am about 2-3 years old and am a healthy, neutered male.
I am a guy's guy and a ladies' man. I like to have my own hangout, so I took over my foster sister's crate, but she doesn't mind so I spend a lot of time there just being a guy. I am good in the crate when left alone and overnight. I am an outdoors kind of guy so I like walks on-leash in the woods and around the neighborhood. I get a little enthusiastic about checking things out so I could probably use some leash training. I am a good running partner, but I am still building stamina so short runs are better for now. As long as I get to go out once a day, I am pretty happy to just chill out on the floor or in the crate. I am an easy-going guy who gets along well with other dogs and cats too. The cats get a quick sniff-over every once in a while, but I don't chase them or bother them. My foster dad is pretty cool because he forgets that I countersurf and leaves things like hot dogs and poptarts unattended. Treats taste better when there's some excitement from stealing them! My foster mom thinks that I have a guy's selective hearing because I respond to "come here," "treat," and sometimes "no," but I am still working on "sit" and "down."
I have a patented move for the ladies -- I push my head into your stomach to let them know I want pets and they fall for it EVERY time! My back-up move is flopping over for belly rubs. My air of mystery demands a little bit of shyness but a lot of affection to make up for it. I am housetrained and I am pretty quiet. I hardly ever bark, but I will let you know when I want to go out. I grin when I see my foster mom, but I won't let her get a good picture of it - I am playing hard to get on that! Girls love my sweet side so I play up how much I like stuffed animals and chew toys. I really love when my foster mom uses smelly lotion and I will smell her hands over and over. I got caught rummaging in her purse and chewing on the lotion I like. I haven't spent a lot of time around kids, but so far I have been gentle and easy going around them.
