Oh sooooo talented ... We don't know whether to sign him up for Major League Baseball or Dancing with Stars, but either way he is bound to be a hit!
Peety is a family man without a family. After 5 years, he was given up because a family member developed allergies. As you can imagine, he was very depressed at first but a new day has dawned. Peety has found his place in a comfy chair surrounded by all his balls and throw toys. He LOVES to play fetch and can catch a ball on the fly better than any dog I've ever seen. The moment we all open our eyes in the morning, Mr. Peety has a ball in his mouth and is ready to go! Sometimes he likes to sleep on the bed but he always makes sure his ball is in bed too.
Peety is a pleasure to have around. I left him alone in the house from the first day he arrived. He is completely housebroken and has never chewed - he doesn't even chew up his toys. Peety uses the pet door. He loves everyone including children and loves to give hugs and kisses. Peety doesn't bark much either and he is not particularly birdy.
Peety gets along well with all of his foster siblings - two basset hounds and a Rotti. The bassets are old and cranky so they keep to themselves, but the Rotti is young and loves to play. She tries to compete with Peety catching the ball , but fails miserably I'm afraid.
Peety is quite handsome too as you can see in his pictures. He has beautiful markings. He weighs about 75 lbs. and is 5 years old. He is very healthy and up-to-date on everything. He rides well in a car but I don't think he has ever been crated. I don't think he would like that much! He has never been walked on a leash because his first family had a very large yard and he was trained on the invisible fence.
Peety is a real gentleman who will adjust very quickly to his forever home. He needs a high-energy family that will play with him. Are you looking for a well-behaved family man?
PEETY (NOW PETEY'S) SUCCESS STORY 08/08
It has been about a year since we adopted Petey, a beautiful 6-year old English Setter with black, white & a bit of brown markings. We wanted to send an update and a few photos to share the very positive adoption experience our family has had. I didn't grow up with dogs so I wasn't sure what to expect the day Petey came home with us. With two young boys (8, 6 yrs) we knew going in that Petey was an active dog, and his love of playing fetch and going on daily walks has never abated, even in the snow! He is very well-behaved with children, other dogs and adult strangers.
We encounter many other dogs and joggers on walks around the neighborhood, and are routinely asked what kind of breed he is and complimented on how handsome and well-mannered he is. In the house, he stays off the furniture, has never scratched or torn up anything, and always lets us know when he needs to go outside for a potty break. Though he enjoys galloping around in the back yard, Petey also loves to relax in the house and is happy to lay down near Jeff or me as we fold laundry, pay bills, or fix dinner. He gets a contented look in his eyes when I serenade him (wish my boys would!) and is always happy to see us when we walk in the door.
I would recommend an older English Setter to any active family who wishes to skip the puppy thing and head straight into bonding with a fun, playful and loyal companion like Petey. We're happy to send photos if you'd like to see him -- our gorgeous boy!
