Hi! My name is FRECKLES and I'm a sweet English Setter mix waiting patiently for my forever home.
While I was laying outside in the grass yesterday, keeping watch over those pesky pigeons on the barn roof, I came up with at least 20 reasons why someone would want to adopt me. But my foster mom said I had to whittle it down to the Top 10, so here goes:
-
I'm 6 years old, so no worries about crazy puppy behavior (chewing things, having accidents, barking at 3:00 a.m.). I'm WAY over that.
- I sit patiently to get treats and take them gently from your hand.
- I'm a perfect gentleman when walking on a leash and would love to go for walks with you.
- I'm very smart and know "sit, down and come". I'd be very happy to learn more if you want to teach me.
- I like to run with my foster brothers, but I don't like rough-and-tumble play. I prefer to "referee" the play sessions and keep things under control.
- I'm a good watchdog and will bark if someone comes to the gate. Once they're inside, I'm friendly and calm.
- I don't beg at the table or pester you when you're eating.
- I know it's impolite to jump up on people, so I never do that.
- I'd rather be with you than anywhere else. If you go outside, I'll come outside. If you're inside, I'll lay at your feet (or next to you on the couch if invited).
- When you've left and come back, I'll smile, wag my tail, and let out some deep "a-rooos" to let you know I'm happy you're home.
A footnote from Freckles' foster family: In the time that Freckles has been here, he has changed in many ways - you could say he's finally "found his groove". Initially wary of strangers and men (including his foster dad), he is now comfortable with visitors and loves his foster dad. He has adjusted to being in a multi-dog household, but we think he'll be happiest as an only dog or with one other dog. He is loving, eager to please and thrives on praise. Due to his sensitive and cautious nature, he'll need time to adjust to a new home and let his true personality shine through. But once he does, you'll have a devoted, smart, happy and fun companion!
