Claudette is the most cuddly, snuggable Young at Heart setter you'll ever meet.  She loves to climb into your lap and lay her head under your chin or on your shoulder.  Then she sits quietly, relaxing into you, enjoying the closeness.  Now, that's the life!  But don't let this love-bug fool you, she has more energy and spunk than some dogs half her age.  Claudette is a graceful little lady with delicate features.  Her ears even curl up at the ends, giving her an elegant look.  Claudette is an 8-9 year old orange girl with very little color, weighing 39 lbs.

Claudette and her ‘brother' Gilbert came to ACES because their owner could no longer care for them.  Claudette and Gilbert are morning people ... um ... setters.  After a good night's sleep, they love a romp early in the morning.  They play bow to each other and then tear around the yard chasing each other.  They also play bow to their foster mom and love it when she play bows back.

Claudette came to ACES with a severe flea allergy.  She was so itchy that she chewed and licked all the hair off of the back half of her body (basically, everywhere she could reach).  Claudette also scratched her face and ears, which are patchy.  She has been treated for fleas, has had multiple baths with moisturizing shampoo, and has finally stopped itching.  It may take 8-10 weeks for her coat to grow back, but we are starting to see sprouts already.  Claudette's teeth needed help too.  Her incisors (front teeth) were cracked and broken with the roots exposed, and could not be saved.  Claudette lost 12 teeth but don't worry, she has plenty left!  The good news is that she feels so much better now.  She's enjoying a new diet of canned food (which won't hurt her tender gums) mixed with a little dry food to crunch on her back teeth.  As a matter of fact, Claudette is eating better now that the painful teeth have been removed.

Claudette settled quickly into her foster home.  She's not fond of meeting new dogs and she was not shy about telling her new foster siblings to mind their manners.  However, Claudette was using one of the new foster pups for a pillow before the first day was over, which shows how adaptable she is.  Claudette is a little too cat-intense in her foster home, so she'd do better in a home without cats.  Claudette likes the outdoors, but her foster mom won't let her stay out in the sun for long.  Her skin gets bright pink very quickly and we don't want to risk sunburn.

We think Claudette spent most of her time outside, so she's looking forward to the good life living inside with a family of her own.  Claudette is afraid of thunderstorms.  With thunder booming overnight, Claudette was content to climb in bed with her foster mom, snuggling close and laying her head on mom's shoulder.

Claudette has made lots of new friends in her foster home. She doesn't look for Gilbert much any more and, in fact, often chooses to spend time away from him. Claudette likes to hang out with the "birdy" girls outside while Gilbert would rather stay inside with his foster mom. Claudette may be a senior citizen but she is full of life. She caught a little critter in the yard a few nights ago during the last trip outside before bed. Claudette was so excited that she didn't want to come in. Now she's at the door, ready to go out every time the door opens. Thankfully, her hair is slowly growing back so she can stay out longer, even in the sunshine. Wait until you see Claudette stand up on her hind legs trying to watch a squirrel scamper over the privacy fence; you can't help but smile. And seeing the grin on Claudette's face as she bounces around the yard will warm your heart. Claudette's goal is to be #1 in all endeavors: the best critter-getter, the setter who gets the most hugs, and the happiest girl on the block. Are you the one to make Claudette #1 in a forever family of her very own?
