Eevi is a beautiful tri-color Llewellyn setter who loves attention, cuddles, affection and praise. She is about 6 years old and is petite at 33 pounds.
In her foster home, she is doing great with the two resident setters (one older and one around her same age) and has not disturbed the cat, although the cat hasn’t really given her the chance. She is sweet, sweet, sweet and mainly wants to snuggle and hang out with her foster family right now.
Eevi loves a good romp in the backyard, and plays fetch with a tennis ball. After a week or so at the foster home, she did start to notice the backyard wildlife and has fun chasing the squirrels and looking for birds. When she comes in, she settles down quickly. She has had no accidents in the house at all, so far. She goes to the door to let you know when she needs to goes out.
She knows “sit” and “come” and probably some other commands not yet uncovered. She is super smart and will learn quickly.
Her biggest challenge is a love of all things food, which is already showing improvement at her foster home as she gets filled up with nutritious food, and sees that begging gets her nowhere and that a display of interest in what's on the counters gets her a firm "no." With consistency and more training at home, that behavior will likely continue to improve.
Because of how much Eevi loves people food, she’ll do better in a home without small children, just because currently she would think food in a hand at her level is an open invitation to share, NOT because of any demonstrated food aggression at the foster home. Consistency will be key, because she looks awfully cute when she's asking you to share. There have been no issues when the foster family feeds the three setters at the same time, while staying close to referee.
Eevi sleeps through the night in her crate with no problem, and will happily nap in the house during the day on a dog bed or sofa, or, back in the crate. She will sometimes make that setter groan of contentment as she stretches out and gets comfortable. She is content in her crate if her foster family goes out for a couple of hours.
This cutie is a communicator, and will try to “talk” to you when she needs you to understand something. She loves to play with her toys and has a fun time doing it. She has lots of energy and some puppy left in her still.
All Eevi needs now is a family willing to give her the stability, consistency, inclusion and love that she needs. She's ready for full life, and to meet the people who want to give that to her for the rest of her life.
Tracey & Allan Fogwill hope that sweet Eevi will soon be "talking" and cuddling with a loving forever family.
