Rowdy wants to make friends with everybody he meets… people and dogs.  He’s a blue belton boy who is 5-6 years old and 57 pounds.  Rowdy seems to like everyone.  He has gotten along well with visitors, including older children.  He gets along well with his foster sister (Bassett Hound), as well as neighborhood dogs he has met during walks and trips to the dog park.

When Rowdy came to his foster home, we could tell he had not been in a home.  It has been entertaining to watch him learn about stairs, TV and even water coming out of the kitchen faucet.  But he is now used to household things, is doing very well with his house training, and has good inside manners.  He sleeps on his doggie bed on the floor of our bedroom, as does his foster sister.  He sleeps well through the night.  His coat was matted when he arrived so we had cut it short.  His coat has a lot of ticking, as you can see in his photos, and it is growing back in.

He is treat/reward oriented so we believe he will be relatively easy to train on more obedience commands.  Plus, he really wants to please his people and will respond well to gentle and positive training. Rowdy is gifted with a very athletic build (muscle, not overweight) and smooth gait.  He’s naturally curious about everything.  He’s very interested in squirrels and rabbits in our yard.  He walks pretty well on a leash (better than our stubborn Bassett).  He is interested in toys but doesn’t seem to really know what to do with them or how to play.

Rowdy loves to be with people and will seek their attention.  When his foster parents are busy, he has learned to curl up on the floor for a nap and he is fine hanging out in the bedroom when they are gone.  Since Rowdy is people-oriented, he would thrive in a home where his family is around for a good part of the day.  Rowdy is loving being a family pet and can't wait to find his forever family!
