RESCUE ANGEL JACKSON
Our dear Jackson needs your help. Jack, as he is fondly known, is a senior ACES foster dog. As an older setter, Jack has seen his fair share of the vet's office, but he has not had any major problems...until now. Jack has developed a large fatty cyst around his front leg, where his elbow meets his chest. As the cyst grows, it will affect the movement of Jack's leg and ultimately cause him to be immobile. Surgery to remove the cyst is expensive and complicated as the vet would be operating around many muscles and tendons.
Jack was lucky enough to find a special person who took him in when his previous owner could no longer care for him. He is also lucky enough to be part of a rescue community where people from all over the country care about him. If you would like to make a donation for Jack's surgery, you can do so with a credit card via PayPal or mail a check to:

Of course, prayers and good wishes for a successful surgery are always needed. Thank you for your help. Check back here and we'll keep you posted on Jack's progress. Jack sends a sweet setter kiss to all of you.
UPDATE 4/4/08
Jack had his surgery on Thursday, April 3, 2008. The vet said it went as well as he could have ever hoped for and the lump on Jack's leg came out pretty easily without difficulty. He also removed the large lump on Jack's shoulder and ... while he was there, he removed another 2 lumps on Jack's back/shoulder area.
Below are some "before" and "after" photos of the little patient. His new nickname is "Stitch." Jack is doing very well and resting comfortably on the doggie king size bed in the office with his foster mom. He does not seem to be in pain; he is happy to relax and rest right now. The bandage on his leg is mostly to minimize swelling and will come off in 5 to 6 days. The stitches will come out in 2 weeks (and we'll have to come up with a new nickname).
Jack says THANK YOU to all his special friends! He will be a new, even more beautiful and lighter dog when this is all healed!
UPDATE 4/9/08
Jack is doing great! His foster mom has to keep him quiet because he's already trying to run and play! Dogs are so amazingly resilient. Even more good news ... after seeing Jack through his surgery, Jack's foster mom has realized that she can't bear to part with this adorable guy. So our sweet Jackson is adopted and happily recuperating in his forever home.
